Nature photography from a woman in the woods

Aha … the First Spring Flower

After two weekends with measurable amounts of snow and night-time temperatures about 20, I did not expect to find any flowers this weekend. And, I almost didn’t … the Hepatica are very small (thumbnail size), only about 2 inches tall and hiding in the dried leaves and pine needles on the forest floor. They are shades of blue and purple, others are pink, and some are completely white.

    • Hmmm …. strange what we think is common in Minnesota can be completely new to someone just a one State away. I am glad I could return the favor. You have so many flowers I have never seen … I really enjoy visiting to see them all.
