Nature photography from a woman in the woods

Photo Challenge: Growth

Most of the photos I take here in the woods fit this topic in different ways. However, I wanted a new one for this challenge and as I was filling the bird feeders this morning these baby acorns glistening with fresh rain drops caught my eye.

  1. They are really pretty! I don’t think I’ve seen baby acorns before.

    • They don’t stay green very long. These were on a very young oak … the ones nearby on the older trees were already turning brown.

    • The grown up brown ones don’t last long around here, so they are hard to see, too. They are a favorite food of so many animals .. including the deer and the bears. Yesterday, a couple of bluejays were attacking these (they had turned brown) … they left their caps behind and I found one on the ground … otherwise they are all gone.
