Nature photography from a woman in the woods

A Fall Harvester . . .

A few weekends ago I enjoyed a clear, crisp, quiet, Fall morning with lots of sun and no wind. As I walked to the lake, I heard what sounded like rocks being thrown. I looked around for the cause and guess what I found? The squirrels were in the high tops of the Jack Pine trees harvesting pinecones. They were literally cutting them and tossing them with great speed and thoroughness.
