More Fun in the Snow . . .

snowsquirrelThe battle of keeping all of the sneaky red squirrels from eating all of the bird seed continues. I have set out a new “squirrel” feeding place away from the bird feeders hoping to persuade the squirrels to eat there.
However, with 3 feet of snow on the ground it makes the whole feeding situation difficult. The squirrels have been extremely busy this winter in the snow … their complex snow tunnel system around the yard is invisible all except for the openings. There are many entrances to the tunnel system, but they all exit at the bird feeders. I am not sure what would be appealing enough to get them to make an all new tunnel system to the “squirrel feeder” area.

  1. That’s cute! We have only one squirrel, and while he is “king of the feeder”, he does share with all of the birds. (One squirrel can eat only so many sunflower seeds, after all.)
