Nature photography from a woman in the woods

Shades of Green . . .

“Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.”
~ Pedro Calderon de la Barca

My world is green. Everywhere I look there is the color green … every shade of green possible is visible in a simple glance into the woods. Green is a favorite color of mine. Most of my house interior has green in it. I particularly like it mixed with a small dab of a contrast color like purple, blue, yellow and pink.

After searching the internet, I can safely say that most people are in agreement to the meaning of the color green.  “The color green is the color of balance and harmony. From a color psychology perspective, it is the great balancer of the heart and the emotions, creating equilibrium between the head and the heart.”

Words associated with Green:   Nature. Growth. Spring. Money. Renewal. Rebirth. Safety.

Green is a sanctuary away from the stresses of modern living, restoring a sense of well-being. It has a calming effect, thus the “green rooms” where guests who are to appear on TV wait.  Green is easy on the eye and can improve vision. It’s often associated with good health too.

I feel blessed to be able to live in the middle of natural greenness!
